All this whilst Huddersfield Town were winning 2-0!

Jason had a typically busy weekend. After meeting a concerned local resident to look at the latest spate of graffiti vandalism in the valley, Jason enjoyed a trip to the wonderful Holmfirth indoor market where he met stall holders and the Kirklees Officer responsible for local markets. He then dropped in to see the vibrant Fairtrade Tropical Tea Party at the Civic Hall before heading off to the Galpharm Stadium to cheer on Huddersfield Town to victory in Simon Grayson’s first game in charge.

Jason had a busy festive weekend. Friday evening saw the big Christmas Lights switch on in Honley. Congratulations to Ian Gooch and the Holme Valley Business Association for doing the valley proud with the lights in Holmfirth and Honley.

Hundreds braved the squalls to walk round the Honley Christmas street market on Saturday morning with shelter just up the road in Trinity Church for their lovely Christmas Tree Festival.

Then it was Marsden’s turn for their lights switch on with entertainment from the Imbolc fire twirlers. The blue and white Christmas lights in Meltham looked as dazzling as ever on the drive home.

Jason spent an enjoyable Sunday afternoon at the 1940s themed Christmas at Taylors Food Store with a festive performance from Honley Male Voice Choir.

It was the biggest and best yet as local produce and tasty treats were on offer all over the town. Jason judged some of the cooking competitions and helped local baker Greg Christofi make Yorkshire Fat Rascals.

The family owned business employs 140 local people and they sell their yoghurts, cottage cheese and cream products all over the world. Jason discussed milk prices, the influence of the big supermarkets and the role of local food producers with the Longley Farm team and NFU officials.
