Jason was delighted to present the trophy at the Sportshall athletics day at the Sports Barn on Leeds Road. The inter-school competition is run by the Pennine School Sports Partnership.

Lindley Juniors (pictured) won the Junior School trophy, while Honley High School went on to win the Senior School trophy.

Lindley Christmas Fayre

Despite the wintry showers the festive spirit was in full flow at the Lindley Christmas Fayre.

Jason and local campaigner Mark Hemingway enjoyed the evening, with Jason tucking into braised pig’s cheek and creamy mash on offer outside the award winning Eric’s Restaurant. Huddersfield Town manager Lee Clark turned on the lights.

Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards 2011

Enterprise and innovation were celebrated at the Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards at the Galpharm Stadium.

Jason was pleased to congratulate some of the local winners including Hinchliffe’s Farm Shop from Netherton, Eric’s Restaurant from Lindley, Hanson Music from Marsden and Young Businessman of the Year David Elliott of Wellhouse Leisure who also picked up the “Make It Huddersfield” award.

Huddersfield Town fan Jason was also proud to see Town Chairman Dean Hoyle pick up the Business Person of the Year.

Lindley Chimes

Jason joined the Lindley Chimes over 60s activity group this lunchtime for bingo, a quiz and a ham bap at Lindley Liberal Club.

The group meets every Tuesday with a wide range of activities for the 40 to 50 who attend regularly.

The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice

Jason spent a busy afternoon with volunteers in Lindley’s Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice charity shop as part of Volunteer Week.

The shop welcomes donations of clothes, books, household items, accessories and recyclable goods with the money raised going towards building a new children’s hospice.

Meeting Birchencliffe Residents

Jason and Lindley Cllr Tony Brice met Birchencliffe residents concerned by development proposals for their area.

The residents are concerned about greenbelt land being reclassified to allow for huge scale housing and business developments on land near the M62 between Lindley and Birkby. The project has been labeled the Northern Gateway.

Jason has called for the Council’s Local Development Framework consultation to be suspended.

Lindley Moor Public Meeting

Nearly 300 concerned residents packed into Lindley Methodist Hall for a public meeting against the developments on Lindley Moor.

The audience heard from Jason, Robert Bamforth of KCAN, local Cllrs and members of the Lindley Moor Action Group. Those opposed to the data campus and housing plans should email their objections to Bill Topping at Kirklees Council.

A Busy Weekend

Jason and his team are always out and about in the constituency and this weekend was no exception. After touring the Sainsbury’s store at Salendine Nook and meeting many of the 70 staff, Jason held a “Meet your MP” event in the shopping centre.

He later opened the Golcar Gala and then spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Lindley Carnival.
