Other contributors to Politeia’s new volume include Zac Goldsmith MP, Jacob Rees-Mogg MP and local MPs Craig Whittaker and Simon Reevell. Jason’s contribution focuses on volunteering and the National Citizens Service.

Snowy Yorkshire

I’ve been out training hard for the Pedal for Pounds 3 charity bike ride from Yeovil to Huddersfield in a month’s time.

The stunning scenery of snow covered hills reminds me how lucky I am to represent in Parliament such a beautiful part of the world. It makes me proud to be a Yorkshire man.

My team and I would like wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for all your very kind letters and emails of support, the many cards and even a Christmas cake for my constituency team.

I’m spending Christmas with family and friends in the Holme Valley and will be cheering on Huddersfield Town against Chesterfield on Boxing Day.

A Walk With Ashley

Holmfirth based watercolourist Ashley Jackson is sharing his vision of the Holme Valley. The legendary artist has inspired a walk showing off the hidden gems around the back streets and landscape surrounding Holmfirth.

Jason joined school children from Wooldale Junior on the first walk with Ashley, stopping at exact locations for the artist’s watercolours.

Bat Men

Jason recently flew in to see the Bat Tower in Linthwaite. The new structure by the River Colne has plenty of nooks and crannies to encourage the local bat population to flourish.

Natural England

Jason joined staff from Natural England and the National Trust for a trek up on Buckstones Moor near Marsden earlier this week.

The moor is recovering after recent fires and the area provides a habitat for the very rare Twite bird. There are only 100 pairs of Twites in England with 20 pairs on our local moors.
