Jason has co authored a publication titled “Freedom, Responsibility and the State: Curbing Over-Mighty Government”. Other contributors to Politeia’s new volume include Zac Goldsmith MP, Jacob Rees-Mogg MP and local MPs Craig Whittaker and Simon Reevell. Jason’s contribution focuses on volunteering and the National Citizens Service.

Pennine Sailing Club

Jason spent a blustery afternoon with the Pennine Sailing Club at picturesque Winscar Reservoir.

The club, located above Dunford Bridge, has a growing membership with many from Jason’s constituency. The Kids Club sessions on a Friday evening are very popular.

Choose Charity Shops

Choose Charity Shops is a nationwide campaign to encourage more people to donate directly to charity shops. Jason supported his local Kirkwood Hospice charity shop in Honley by dropping off a donation bag.

Charity shops thrive on donations, but their number one concern at the moment is not having enough second-hand items to sell. Such items could add to the £200 million of annual income they already generate for a huge range of charitable causes.

Town are on their way to Wembley

Jason was at a buzzing Galpharm stadium to see Huddersfield Town book a place at Wembley in the League One Playoff Final. Town lost 2-1 on the night to MK Dons but went through 3-2 on aggregate. Jason will be joining the 30,000 plus town fans on the trip down to Wembley having been there in 1995 to see Chris Billy’s header take the Terriers up.

Sunny Saturday

Jason enjoyed a packed Saturday across the constituency. First up was a morning at Golcar Lily Day followed by some casework in Crosland Moor. After an early afternoon in a heaving Holmfirth for the Folk Festival, Jason enjoyed the superb World Premiere of Mikron Theatre Company‘s “Losing the Plot” (pictured) outdoors in front of an audience of 300 at the Netherton allotments.

All this whilst Huddersfield Town were winning 2-0!

The State Opening of Parliament

Jason was proud to attend the State Opening of Parliament and was sat in the House of Lords for the Queen’s Speech. The Government will be concentrating on dealing with the deficit and fostering growth, be on the side of people who work hard and do the right thing and end the something for nothing culture.

Pedal for Pounds 3

Other commitments meant Jason could only join the 280 intrepid Pedal for Pounds 3 charity cyclists for the final Sheffield to Huddersfield leg. The cyclists braved driving rain, potholes and chilly conditions to raise over £200,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Town Youth Academy. Jason still managed to raise £1,000.

Colne Valley High School Arts Evening

Jason joined many proud parents at Colne Valley High School’s Arts evening. Art and Design project course work was proudly shown off by the Year 11 students. Curtis Brierley showed Jason the technology cabinet he’d designed and made.
