Making Things

Many people say to me “we don’t make things in the UK anymore”. Well we do. We’re still the 6th biggest manufacturer in the world and this week I’ve been to visit 3 fantastic local companies who are making things.

Thornton & Ross are one of the UK’s largest makers of over the counter medicines. The family owned business began in 1922 and employ 400 people in Linthwaite. Greenworld Biodiesel are turning chip fat into a clean fuel at their site in Slaithwaite. TEV Ltd in Brighouse are designing and making the latest high tech environmentally friendly air source heat pumps.
