Plans for New Aldi Food Store in Slaithwaite

Yorkshire retail developers Dransfield Properties Ltd are holding an open public consultation session in Slaithwaite on Friday about the company’s plans for a new ALDI food store in the town.

The Barnsley-based company is bringing forward proposals for the new store which is planned for a disused mill site on Britannia Road in the town – the new ALDI will have a sales area of 12,000 sq ft.

As well as regenerating a disused mill site the new development will also create 30 new jobs in the town. Ninety new town centre car parking spaces are being created and a traffic civilisation scheme for Britannia Road is also proposed.

The open consultation session will be held on Friday (February 22nd) from 12pm through to 7pm.

Representatives from ALDI as well as the Dransfield development team will be on hand to answer questions about the proposals. Site plans and artists impressions will also be available to view during the session.

Retail Property Director at Dransfield Properties Ltd, Andrew Malley, said: “We look forward to discussing our plans for Slaithwaite. We are delighted to be working with ALDI on this exciting project which will not only bring a disused site back into use but will also help keep more shoppers in the town.”

Anyone with an interest in the plans is invited to attend the consultation event;

Time: 12pm – 7pm

Venue: Slaithwaite Civic Hall

Date: Friday February 22nd
