Jason visited Riding Wood near Yateholme reservoir to see a project that Yorkshire Water are undertaking which promotes native woodland. The project will see foreign tree species replaced by native British trees such as oak, hazel, rowan, alder and holly. Jason is pictured planting an oak tree.
The project will restore almost eighty hectares of ancient woodland by the end of 2015.
That’s a great project. I go walking there with Crumble, my dog, all the time and it will be wonderful to see the landscape improving as the trees grow and attract more wildlife to the area..
