Our Community

Jason spent another busy weekend out in the community he loves and where he lives. On Friday evening he met local residents and members of Hepworth FC to discuss plans for their new clubhouse and changing facilities. First thing on Saturday was the official opening of the new Meltham Post Office in the newly refurbished Carlile Institute, which was followed by the launch of a photographic exhibition in Honley Parish Rooms focussing on the village’s Great War heroes. A canvassing session in Upperthong again highlighted local residents’ fury with our Labour run council’s obsession with building on greenfields. Jason then cheered on Huddersfield Town at home to Middlesbrough and caught up fellow Town fan Andrew Gale – the Yorkshire skipper had the County Championship trophy with him.

Weekend Collage

In the evening Jason was honoured to compere a wonderful musical “Last Night of the Proms” at Holmfirth Civic for Holme Valley Memorial Hospital League of Friends. The 200 plus audience were entertained by the Hade Edge Band and the Honley Ladies Choir.

On Sunday Jason was a guest at the 141st annual Longwood Sing where the Golcar Band, the Outlane Singers and the children of Crow Lane School performed.
