Fairtrade Fortnight

Jason was delighted to join colleagues in launching Fairtrade Fortnight at the Fairtrade APPG Reception in Parliament. Jason, who is co-chair of the APPG with Halifax MP Holly Lynch, thoroughly enjoyed meeting Leonard Kachebonaho, who is one of the founders of the Fairtrade-certified co-operative Kaderes Peasants Development Plc (KPD) in Tanzania.

Leonard told the reception how Fairtrade is helping his community and improving their standard of living. The reception also heard from Rory Stewart MP, Minister of State for International Development about how the Government will be working with Fairtrade to have more people like Leonard, enjoying a fair wage and a better life. There was also representatives of The Co-Op and Traidcraft at the event, both supporters of Fairtrade.

Jason will be attending a number Fairtrade events in his constituency as part of Fairtrade Fortnight.

Fairtrade Fortnight runs from Sunday 27th February – Sunday 12th March
