GENERAL ELECTION

The Prime Minister has just announced, subject to a Parliamentary vote, there will be a General Election on 8th June 2017

I am fully in support of this announcement and I look forward to the campaign ahead. We need certainty, stability and strong leadership, Theresa May has done this since day one. The country voted to leave the European Union, now is the time for the nation to come together and make it a success. We need strong leadership with a strong majority to make the impact our Prime Minister, Theresa May needs to do this.

Theresa May Announcement

To date the Government has delivered on the mandate the country gave it from the referendum in June 2016. Britain is leaving the European Union and there can be no turning back. And as we look to the future, the government has the right plan for negotiating our new relationship with Europe. To quote the Prime Ministers statement

‘In recent weeks Labour has threatened to vote against the deal we reach with the European Union.

The Liberal Democrats have said they want to grind the business of government to a standstill.

The Scottish National party say they will vote against the legislation that formally repeals Britain’s membership of the European Union.

And unelected members of the House of Lords have vowed to fight us every step of the way.

Our opponents believe that because the government’s majority is so small, our resolve will weaken and that they can force us to change course.

They are wrong.

They underestimate our determination to get the job done and I am not prepared to let them endanger the security of millions of working people across the country’.

Now is the time to give Theresa May the option to make Brexit a success for everybody, a country that works for everyone, where we decide where we spend our money and what laws we set. We cannot allow Corbyn’s Chaos to damage the country in the same way he has damaged his party.
