Jason McCartney for Colne Valley

Jason is delighted to have been readopted as the Conservative party candidate for Colne Valley for the forthcoming General Election. Jason was unanimously readopted at a meeting of Conservative party members in his home village of Honley last night.

It’s a huge honour representing the area where I live and love so much,” said Jason. “The people of the Colne and Holme valleys and Lindley have a big choice to make on 8th June – strong and stable leadership under Theresa May or a coalition of chaos under Mr Corbyn.”

Jason is a proud Yorkshireman and was first elected as the MP for Colne Valley in 2010 and re-elected in 2015. In the last election he received 25,246 votes, the most in Colne Valley for over 60 years, with a majority of 5,378.

Jason recently topped the national survey is being named the most responsive MP in the UK out of all 650. He sits on the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee which has been looking into broadband and mobile phone connectivity which is a big issue in his constituency. He Co Chairs the Yorkshire APPG and is Chairman of the Rail in the North group. Jason, who’s a former RAF Officer, serves on the Defence & Security Committee of the NATO Assembly.

He’s a Huddersfield Town and Giants season ticket holder. Jason has raised thousands of pounds for local charities including the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Kirkwood Hospice and the Huddersfield Town “Keep It Up” campaign. Jason spends a full week volunteering in his community each summer. Jason is passionate about getting young people into training, education or work. He has held four Jobs Fairs across the Colne and Holme valleys which has led to local people gaining themselves full time and part time work, apprenticeships and work experience.
