Labour-run Kirklees Council wants to increase permit parking fees from £15 for the lifetime of a car to £50 per year. They also plan to charge £50 per year for visitor permits. This could cost an average car owner £400 over eight years without any guarantee of a parking spot.

They also want to bring in parking charges for our small towns and villages which will be hugely damaging to local shops and services.

Local campaigners, Conservative Councillors and myself are opposing the price hike. You can join us by signing the local petition to help stop the increase in permit parking fees.

We will represent the opposition when this goes before the full council cabinet.
