It’s a week on from the Kirklees Council Elections when our local Conservative Candidates across the 6 wards of the Colne Valley constituency recorded 5,404 more Conservative votes than when the local elections were last held in May 2019 – that’s an increased vote share of 13%.
Congratulations to Cllr Adam Gregg who beat his Lib Dem opponent in Lindley and was one of two Conservative gains in Kirklees with the other in Denby Dale.
Congratulations to Councillor Donald Firth who was comfortably re-elected in Holme Valley South. Good luck to his fellow Holme Valley South Councillor Nigel Patrick and his wife Judith who will become the Mayor and Mayoress of Kirklees for the coming year. Cllr Patrick has chosen the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team as his mayor's charity.
All our other Conservative candidates substantially increased their vote shares - Tony McGrath (Holme Valley North), Trevor Bellamy (Colne Valley ward) Neil Allsopp (Crosland Moor & Netherton) and our two Golcar candidates Jackie Walker and Isaac Barnett.
All this progress though can’t be taken for granted and it involves a lot of hard work. That work for next year’s local elections starts now.
If you can help in any way at all please do get in touch, whether it’s delivering leaflets in your area or maybe even considering standing as a candidate yourself. We’d love to hear from you.
