Jason asks the Health Secretary what advice is being given to Chinese students in the UK, in regards to the recent outbreak in Wuhan.
Jason McCartney MP
Many UK universities, not least my local Huddersfield University, have strong links with the Wuhan University of Technology and Science. What particular advice is the Secretary of States department giving to UK Universities, particularly those with large Chinese student populations?
Rt. Honourable Matt Hancock MP, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care
We are not giving specific advice, we are giving the same advice to everybody - which is to avoid non-essential travel to Wuhan - but I’m very happy to take away the point that we will ensure that we are communicating through universities UK, with all UK universities, to make sure that the message gets to students directly and they hear the advice that is there for everybody - which is to avoid all but essential travel.
