Jason McCartney MP is doing all he can to try and keep our leisure centres open. Our shambolic Labour-run Kirklees Council are proposing to close Colne Valley Leisure Centre in Slaithwaite and Holmfirth Pool and Fitness Centre isn’t safe either.
Labour-run Kirklees Council is cutting their funding of Kirklees Active Leisure by a massive amount, despite receiving an increase in money from the Government and from us all as council tax payers.
Jason has raised the issue in Parliament, met with key stakeholders and is working with the local group “Save Colne Valley Leisure Centre” to help find a sustainable future for our leisure centres.
Commenting on the proposed closures, Jason says:
I will work with anyone who wants to find solutions to protect these much valued local community facilities. KAL and the shambolic Labour run council need a constructive “can do” attitude to work with (not against) community groups to try and find ways to keep our Leisure Centres open.
