Following successful lobbying by local MP Jason McCartney, alongside a vibrant community campaign, the Government has invested over £15 million in our new, state-of-the-art, A&E unit at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
The new A&E department is 50% bigger than the existing A&E and the facilities are state-of-the-art. It includes Majors and Minors Treatment Areas, dedicated pediatric treatment areas, resuscitation bays and X-ray rooms.
The Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust have also recruited more staff including consultants to work in the new A&E department.
This is all part of multi-million-pound investment in HRI by the Government which is also seeing wards being refurbished.
